![]() ![]() ![]() Have a look at the way interactivities are created in the Quick Start Projects which you find in the Assets panel.Timeline panel is essential, but too bad it is hidden in the Newbie UI, click the Timeline title to open it.Setting up a theme for a project is the first step when starting development of a course. Import all the assets you can retrieve into that Library, it can save you time. My previous answer was meant to give you some hints when trying to recreate courses in Captivate. ![]() One of the reasons why the Articulate community is far better, but personally I prefer Captivate largely over Rise because it has a lot more in its toolbox and has great roundtripping with other Adobe applications like Photoshop, Illustrator, Audition, Animate… I posted a long answer hours ago but it disappeared. But learning another tool can only help you as a designer. ago My company has both - Camtesia is used for video editing but Storyline (Articulate in general) is used for online modules, trainings, storyboards, etc. When an organization is paying for the software, that is the software we use. In some cases, we don’t have the luxury of choosing what we use. Not the first time I have answered this question this way. They do different things, but similar things at the same time. I know not the answer you want to hear, but really, without knowing the factors or the decision making going into it, I can’t answer.Īs for is it better, again, one person will likely Storyline, one person will like Captivate. I think the value of worth in this case will depend on your organization. Maybe they just want to switch things up. Maybe they want to start developing different types of training. Maybe your org is getting a better bulk rate with Adobe. To answer your question as to whether it is worth it or not, it depends on too many factors. They also may not look or operate exactly the same, but you should be able to build it similarly, if that makes any sense. Captivate and Storyline are the comparable tools.Įssentially, what you create in Storyline can be created in Captivate, just a bit differently and the process is different. Rise is a completely different tool than either Captivate or Storyline, so comparing them is not apples to apples at all. Captivate has a longer learning curve than Storyline (in my opinion), but it doesn’t mean you can’t create some good learning with Captivate as you learn. You won’t necessarily be starting from scratch, but at the same time, you will be in another way as you are moving to a new tool. No, the courses will not transfer over as they are different applications.Īs I have read in the responses to your original post, it seems updates are frequent with the courses, so I guess the decision will need to be based on how much updating the initial switch will cost in terms of timing for the work. ![]()
